Fundraising Auction  and bric-a-brac sale

This is our biggest fundraising event in the diary each year. Please start collecting things we could auction. – furniture, household items and bric-a-brac.

The Ide Hill Scout Group is a charity, which is entirely funded by subscriptions, donations and fundraising. The aim of our auction is to raise much needed funds for our Group to enable all our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to get the most out of Scouting.

Parents smash the world record time for triathlon from London to Paris

Six of  our parents – Andy Scholes, Mike Denbigh, Sue Hart, Kevin Sharp, Alex Manley and Julian Critchlow –  have smashed the world record  triathlon time between London and Paris.

The run to Dover, cross-Channel swim and cycle ride to Paris saw them shave more than 13 hours off British Gas’s record of 63 hours 26 minutes.
Kevan Sharp ran the first hour from Marble Arch at 11am on Friday.  It was one of the hottest days of the year and the team of six had to dig deep to get to Dover, rotating runners every hour. A minibus carried the other athletes to meeting points along the way.  They reached the coast just after midnight.
Had they been able to dive in immediately they may have arrived at the Arc de Triomphe sooner than they did, but they were forced to wait for the tide to turn. At 3.03am, in total darkness, Andy Scholes took to the water.
And so began the most gruelling leg, which would take 14 hours 32 minutes.
When the team was within 100m of the French coast, all six members dived back in to complete the final stretch together.
They then detoured to Calais to clear customs, before jumping on the bike to Paris at 8am.
They cycled for more than 17 hours and arrived in the French capital at 1am.
The team – motivated by the need to raise money for a new hut for the 16th Ide Hill Scouts and for the Spinal Injuries Association, a charity supporting former Cub Scout leader Rod Bradley, who broke his neck in a horrific mountain bike accident last year – never doubted they would reach Paris.
So far they have raised around £23,000 and are hoping to hit a target of £50,000.

Please bring your own drinks.

The Quiz Night will take place at Ide Hill village hall.

Please contact Sharron 01732 750126

We are over half way there!

Thank you to all our parents, friends and supporters who have brought us closer to getting a brand new scout hut.

Scouting activities in the little village of Ide Hill are going from strength to strength. We are just about to restart our Beaver Colony, we have two over subscribed cub packs, two thriving scout troops and are also hoping to open an Explorers unit for the 14+ year olds. None of this could happen without the fantastic support we get from our volunteer leaders, parents and friends.

We are making a big difference to our community and you are right there with us. Thank you 🙂
